About the Netzer youth movement:
Netzer was founded in 1979 in Australia by a group of young reform Jews in Melbourne and Sydney. These young leaders envisioned a movement that gave a voice and identity to reform Jewish youth. In the last 3 years, Netzer has spread to over 14 countries and has a strong connection between these branches. Netzer’s ideology has 3 main pillars, reform Zionism, progressive Judaism and Tikkun Olam. In Australia Netzer currently has branches in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth as well as running regular events in Adelaide, Canberra and rural NSW and Victoria.
As Netzer leaders, our aims for our educational activities are to instil a sense of Jewish identity regardless of what part of Judaism they identify with. As a youth movement, Netzer also engages kids with things outside of Judaism such as political and environmental awareness through programs run by our leaders.
