Rabbi Shimon Eddi 


Rabbi Shimon Eddi was born in Brooklyn, New York. He received rabbinic ordination at Kollel Agudath Achim. He and his wife Skye (originally from Wagga Wagga) lived in Sydney for twelve years before moving to Canberra with their six sons.
Rabbi Eddi has degrees in Aeronautical Science and in Accounting. True to his belief that true Judaism means incorporating one’s Jewish life into the wider world, he had worked in the rabbinate and corporate finance before taking up his position at the ACT Jewish Community.
In 2019, Rabbi Eddi will provide the following services and programs to community members:
  • delivery of the adult education program;
  • guidance, support and delivery of the Geirut program (conversion class);
  • student supervision and tefillah tuition (teaching of Jewish prayer) during the Cheder (Sunday school) and
  • provide inter-faith representational and pastoral care duties as needed.

Rabbi Alon Meltzer


Rabbi Meltzer commenced his appointment as the inaugural Rabbi of the ACT Jewish Community in July 2014. He was ordained at Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary in New York.
Rabbi Meltzer was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand. 
Rabbi Meltzer left Canberra in December 2017 to take up an appointment in Sydney in January 2018.
