Are you knowledgeable about Jewish Studies or Hebrew and enthusiastic about helping Jewish children connect to their Judaism?

The ACT Jewish Community has an innovative education program teaching children from Kindergarten to Year 6. It is taught on a Sunday at the National Jewish Memorial Centre, 31 National Circuit, Forrest during school terms only.

As an educator at the ACT Jewish Community’s child education program, you will shape the minds of tomorrow and work with a committed team to provide a positive learning environment to children aged between 5-11yrs.

Your role as an educator will mean that you share a love of educating and possess the personal attributes of optimism, resilience, and flexibility. You will have great communication skills that will enable you to effectively connect with parents, children and colleagues and you'll have demonstrated knowledge of Judaism some knowledge of Hebrew.

A pluralistic class-ready lesson that has been professionally developed by the NSW Board of Jewish Education (BJE) will be provided to you prior to the weekly Sunday class and you will be expected to familiarise yourself with its content prior to the lesson starting.

All applicants will be subject to reference and background checks, including a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) check and always adhere to the ACTJC’s policies and procedures. Successful applicants will be required to complete an online Child Safety Training course before commencing employment.
All people employed by the ACTJC must be eligible to work in Australia. You are able to work in Australia if you are an Australian Citizen, an Australian Permanent Resident or a foreign national with permission to work. If you are not an Australian citizen, you will be asked for documentation to prove your eligibility to work.

The Working with Vulnerable People Scheme was enacted in 2012 and aimed to reduce the risk of harm or neglect to vulnerable people in the ACT. The WWVP Act requires those who work or volunteer with vulnerable people to undergo a background check and become registered. The background check consists of a National Police Check and a Working with Children Check. Once registered, a standard WWVP registration lasts for three years.
