School / Group visits to the Centre

The ACTJC has many years of experience in hosting groups of school students for short educational visits to the National Jewish Memorial Centre in Forrest, Canberra.

The National Jewish Memorial Centre houses a small Jewish Museum, including a Holocaust exhibit, as well as two synagogues (Orthodox and Progressive), and all parts of the Centre are open to the students.

We welcome questions and interactive dialogue, and visits can be tailored to the needs of each group, and to a particular age group.
We can focus on Judaism generally or specifically on the Holocaust, if desired.

At the moment we do not have a Rabbi or education manager, so visits are conducted by experienced and knowledgeable volunteer guides from within our Community.

As the only Jewish community in the ACT, we get a lot of requests to talk to schools and other groups about Judaism. It is very important for children to hear about other faiths and beliefs directly and so will always do our best to meet requests. While we don’t charge a fee for such visits, as an entirely self-funding charity we are delighted when schools offer to make a small contribution to our expenses.

For more information, and to arrange a visit by your school, please contact our office at: act.admin@actjc.org.au.

We look forward to welcoming you to the ACT Jewish Centre
